Newsmakers Extra: Peeling back layers of immigration Issue

HOUSTON – Professor Geoffrey Hoffman, LL.M, has dedicated his professional life to studying and teaching about the issues facing immigrants, legal and illegal, and the challenges they face.

As director of the Immigration Clinic at the University of Houston Law Center and with a Master of Laws degree from Harvard, Hoffman is uniquely qualified to talk about the many issues regarding immigration. Hoffman takes time on this week’s "Houston Newsmakers Extra" to talk about the many layers that make up the immigration issue.

“People see it as a black and white issue," he said.  “You’re an illegal immigrant or you’re a legal immigrant but there may be people who are undocumented, but then they have claims for relief like asylum. They fear to go back.”

"Houston Newsmakers Extra" with Khambrel Marshall airs Sunday morning at 10 a.m. after "Meet the Press" on KPRC Channel 2.
