New Houston-area amusement park makes big announcement

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – Some are calling it the next Astroworld, and it's about to be closer to becoming reality.

The Houston area is about to move one step closer to getting a new amusement park.

Grand Texas posted the news on its Facebook page.

The update said construction will begin next month on "Big Rivers," the water park portion of the theme park.

The post also said the construction could be completed as early as spring.

The park will be built near the intersection of U.S. 59 and Highway 242 in east Montgomery County.
