HOUSTON - Houston police are investigating a fatal shooting at an after hours night club in southwest Houston.

It happened at 7:40 a.m. Sunday at Club H2O at 9427 Country Creek Drive and Bissonnet Street.

A 44-year-old man died at the scene. His identity is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The other victim, a 30-year-old man, was taken to Ben Taub Hospital and is listed in stable condition, according to authorities.

Police say the men were seen going in and out of the club multiple times. As the club was closing, authorities say the men attempted to return but were denied by club security.

Investigators say the situation began to escalate and one of the victims began recording video with his cell phone. That's when another man took the phone and struck the second man in the face as he tried to help his friend get the phone back, according to officials.

The men were separated as the alleged suspect and a security guard went back inside the club. Officials say that minutes later they went back outside to confront the two men again. The suspect fatally shot one of the men without provocation and shot his friend, the owner of the cell phone, as he tried to flee according to investigators.

The shooter left in a maroon Ford Expedition and is still on the loose, according to police. He is described as a black man in his mid-30s with dark complexion, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 250 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Houston Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
