Woman jumps on hood of vehicle to thwart carjacking

WILWAUKEE, Wisc. – An ordinary trip to the gas station turned into a nightmare for a woman in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

It's hard to believe what she did to stop her car from being stolen.

The woman refused to be a victim, and jumped onto the hood of her own vehicle to prevent it from being stolen.

Melissa Smith said she didn't even notice the Cadillac that pulled up next to her while she was pumping gas. She definitely didn't notice the man sneak behind her steering wheel.

When the car began to move, her instincts kicked in and she jumped onto the hood directly in front of the driver's seat.

The man slammed on the breaks twice to try and shake Smith off.

"He was laughing while I was on my car and he was trying to throw me off," she said.

The man eventually gave up and took off.

She said he stole her purse, wallet and iPhone.
