Memorial banners show up on Facebook accounts

HOUSTON – Have you checked your Facebook profile lately? Apparently, Facebook is killing people off.

Accounts are being turned into memorialized pages, meaning that the person is no longer alive. Don't worry; It's just a glitch.

The banner is placed across the top of the user's Facebook profile and reads, "Remembering (insert name here). We hope people who love (name of person) will find comfort in the things others share to remember and celebrate his life."

Even Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg succumbed to the unknown glitch.

The Verge found a lot of humor in the situation, along with other users.

"Facebook did not immediately respond to a request for comment, likely because everyone there is dead," Casey Newton wrote.

The company did release this statement:

“For a brief period today, a message meant for memorialized profiles was mistakenly posted to other accounts. This was a terrible error that we have now fixed. We are very sorry that this happened and we worked as quickly as possible to fix it.” – A Facebook Spokesperson

Dear Facebook: I am not dead, but quite alive. Please stop trying to memorialize my account. Also glad I'm not alone. I was getting worried. http://www.thewrap.com/facebook-is-telling-users-they-are-dead/

Attention everyone! I'm not dead. Apparently Facebook decided to memorialize my page.
