Murder-suicide reported at condo near Galleria, police say

HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating after a man and woman were found dead in west Houston Friday, according to police.

Authorities said two people were dead at a condo in the 5700 block of Sugar Hill Drive, near the Galleria.

The crime was reported around 2 p.m. when police responded to a welfare check, police said.

Family members requested to check after not hearing from the couple in two days, according to police.

Police said they believe drug use played a part in the deaths.

"There may be some drug use involved. There may be some issues with previous relationships and this current relationship not going the way it was suppose to do to those drug issue," said Detective D. Crowder, Houston Police Homicide Unit.

The woman and man, both believed to be in their 50s, were both found dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Two dogs were found inside the condo, police said.

The woman had lived at the condo for over 20 years, police said.

"They didn't show any signs whatsoever," said Tex Christopher, who last saw the couple Sunday. "They seemed very chilled, very relaxed."

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
