Police identified the motorcyclist as 22-year-old Bryson McClure of Beaumont.

McClure did not respond to the officers' request to pull over and headed west on Seawall Blvd. traveling at high speeds, police said.

When McClure approached 61st Street, he hit the rear end of a vehicle turning onto Seawall Boulevard, investigators said.

McClure was not wearing a helmet and suffered possible life-threatening injuries in the accident, police said.  He was taken to UTMB Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Authorities said the 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that McClure was riding was reported stolen in Grimes County.

The Galveston County district attorney issued a warrant charging McClure with evading arrest with a motor vehicle.

The accident is still under investigation.
