Mother recounts being held at gunpoint during robbery at west Houston apartment complex

HOUSTON – Still too afraid to show her face from behind a partially-closed door, a woman recounted what was stolen from her at gunpoint at her apartment complex in west Houston near the Briar Meadow neighborhood.

"My wallet, my cell phone, my car keys," she said.

On Monday evening, she was taking her child out of the car near a mailbox area at the Chateaux Dupre Apartments on the 7900 block of Westheimer near Voss when two men came out of nowhere.

"I was getting my toddler out of the car and they approached me, one from behind the car and the other one, one in front of the car," she recalls. "He put a gun to the back of my head."

That was one of two armed robberies at this same apartment complex within 90 minutes of each other that day.

The other robbery also took place near mailboxes, and police believe the same two men are responsible.

This particular victim is doing what she can to make sure they're caught.

"I was able to see the messages and the phone numbers they were trying to call with my phone," she said. "And I was able to search them online, give that information to the police."

The victim said the two men drove away in an orange Hyundai.
