Mother leaves 3 children in car overnight at Texas Children's Hospital, police say

HOUSTON – A mother was charged with child endangerment after police said she left three of her children alone in a car in the Texas Children Hospital parking lot overnight until they were found by police Monday morning.

Houston Police Department officials said they discovered the children after a disturbance call Monday at about 7:05 a.m. at the 1100 Bates area of the parking lot.

Police said when they located the vehicle, they found the children, ages 10, 11 and 12, inside with the windows rolled up.

Lucresia Nelson told police her other child was in the hospital after suffering from an asthma attack earlier that day, police said. She also told investigators she left her children in her car after she said a cab driver assaulted her for an unpaid cab fare, police said.

The children were taken into the hospital and checked out.

Police said Nelson was acting erratically and threatened to kill herself after she was arrested.

She is being held in the Harris County Jail on a $2,000 bail.
