HOUSTON - A woman has been accused of hitting her 11-year-old son with an extension cord.

According to court documents, Diana Torres saw her son walking home from the store around 8 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Investigators said she took him home and beat him with an extension cord for leaving his 3-year-old brother at home alone.

She's also been accused of hitting the 3-year-old with a broom on a separate occasion.

Torres has been charged with two counts of injury to a child.
