Mission Sierra residents fed up with vandals

HOA president want neighbors to keep a watchful eye

RICHMOND, Texas - Fort Bend County Sheriff's deputies are on the lookout for vandals in the Mission Sierra subdivision.

Residents have reported someone throwing rocks and shooting BB guns at their property.

"It's starting to be a little bit annoying," said Terrance Riley, Mission Sierra Homeowner's Association president. "We just noticed broken bottle glass and then we noticed bb shots to the windows and then we noticed glass being broken out."

Riley says on Sunday night, someone took rocks and smashed the window of the clubhouse. He also says they threw rocks in the pool.

Every time, vandals do this, it costs the HOA hundreds of dollars.

Riley believes kids might be committing these crimes, and he has a message for parents.

" If they like BBs and shooting guns, let's watch them and control what's going on; and, if you see the kids outside with a type of pellet gun walking through the neighborhood, feel free to call the non-emergency number for Fort Bend," said Riley.

And the vandals he says are raiding the neighborhood in the late afternoon and evening.

The association plans on installing more lights and a camera system to try and catch the culprits.

In the meantime, they want residents to keep a watchful eye.

"Every time that happens, we have to spend money and it's not fair to the homeowners who live out here. Right now there's no increases in sight we just want to make sure we get this nipped an dunder control," said Riley.

To prevent vandalism, deputies suggest neighbors join a crime watch program. They also suggest installing a surveillance system.

Since the beginning of the year, there have been three reports of vandalism in the area. They all occurred within the last two months.

To contact authorities about these crimes, call the Fort Bend County non-emergency number at 281-341-4665.
