TRINITY COUNTY, Texas – An 11-year-old girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert was found safe on Tuesday.
An Amber Alert was issued Monday evening for Savannah Hurley.
Trinity County sheriff's deputies said Savannah was taken by her biological mother, Shelly Jean Hurley, after Children's Protective Services tried to remove the girl from her mother's custody because Hurley failed a drug test. She tested positive for methamphetamines, CPS officials said.
Savannah was not at their Trinity County home, so CPS and deputies went to Hurley's mother's house in The Woodlands. She was also not there.
Deputies said Hurley's mother, Patricia Rutledge, had Savannah and met Hurley to hand her over. Rutledge was charged with interfering with child custody.
Investigators said Savannah was found with her mother in Trinity County shortly before 3 p.m. on Tuesday. They were found in a camper trailer in the subdivision where they had last been seen, officials said.
Hurley was arrested and charged with interfering with child custody, a state jail felony.
