HOUSTON – A young father of four children was shot to death Monday at the corner of Braesvalley Drive and Braesmont.
It is the very same spot where 10-month-old Messiah Marshall was murdered June 14.
“It’s crazy and it needs to stop. You think Meyerland is a good area. This is crazy, I’m moving out,” Angela Taylor said.
Now with two murders in more than two weeks, more and more residents of upscale Meyerland are asking what is happening to their once-peaceful neighborhood.
“One block in any direction from this section and you are looking at $500,000 homes. So how can you have this?” Karen Behney said.
Behney has lived in Meyerland for more than three years and said the area seems to be changing overnight from an affluent area to a crime-ridden and frightening place.
Nyeshia Arcenaux is a mother of three children and said she is worrying about their safety every day – a place the once believed was a dream neighborhood and a lucky one to live in.
“This is all shocking to me, I thought this was a good neighborhood. Two murders in a couple weeks? No,” Arcenaux said.
Behney said she believes there is a solution.
She feels that the Houston police need to work more closely with the Meyerland Homeowners Association and with the owners of large apartment complexes to come up with solutions to reduce crime in the area.
