RICHMOND, Texas - Richmond police will wait until Tuesday morning to positively identify a man found dead in the backseat of a truck in Richmond.

"We need a little more time. We want to make sure we get in touch with the family," Sgt. Lowell Neinast, said.

Erica Rodriguez, a Richmond resident, said Monday that she had been notified of the possibility that the dead man could be her Uncle, also a Richmond resident who she said is about 50 years old.

"He just left last night and then they find his truck in the morning. We don't know. We don't know. We're worried," Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez said this morning her aunt called police because her uncle has not returned home.

The male body, of about the same age, according to Neinast, was found Monday morning the truck parked in the 5400 block of Riverwood Drive.

Richmond police say they received a 911 call about a man who was being beaten by two other men outside of the Rocky Falls apartment complex just before 10 p.m. Sunday.

When emergency crews arrived, people had already dispersed and blood was found on the pavement.

The missing man's pickup truck was located a short time later and a man's body was found inside.

Richmond police say detectives are processing the vehicle.
Anyone with information in this case should call Master Sgt. Neinast with the Richmond Police Department at 281-342-2849.
