Man wanted in Rice Epicurean Market robbery

Robber ties up employees, steals cash

HOUSTON - An armed man tied up two employees at a Rice Epicurean Market during a robbery.

The robbery happened at the store off Fountain View about 10 p.m. on April 18.

Investigators believe the robber hid in the store and waited for closing. He cut the alarm and phone lines before holding up the 62 and 73-year-old employees at gunpoint.

The robber tied up the employees, then stole cash and the store's camera system.

Police said there has also been several purse snatching in the store's parking lot. It's unclear if the robbery and purse snatchings are related.

"Beware of your surroundings anywhere you go, no matter if you are in a low-income area or a very nice area, always be aware of your surroundings," said Hector Hernandez, who works near the store.

If you have any information on the store robbery or the purse snatchings, call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS.
