Man wanted in convenience store robbery

HOUSTON - Police need help identifying and finding a man who robbed a southwest Houston convenience store at gunpoint.

Houston police said the man held up the Valero station in the 9700 block of Beechnut about 1:15 a.m. on July 26.

The man pretended to shop and waited for customers to leave before he walked up to the counter, pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded cash, police said.

The employee handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the robber left the store, officials said.

"It's very important that we catch these violent criminals because they're capable of committing crimes over and over again," said Kimberly Miller with HPD's Robbery Division.

The robber was described as Hispanic, 26 to 28 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 170 to 180 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
