Man shot in Houston Heights area while walking dog

HOUSTON – A man is in the hospital after he was shot while walking his dog in Northwest Houston.

According to police, Piotr Lewandowski, 38, was out on his daily walk with his dog in the Houston Heights area near Cortlandt Street when an unknown man approached him in a vehicle, got out of it and opened fire.

The man was hit twice before the shooter fled in the vehicle, police said.

At least one neighbor has a camera, and according to police the shooter is believed to have been driving a silver or tan four-door sedan.

Authorities said there is no known motive behind the incident, but it is under investigation. They do not know if anyone was with the shooter in the vehicle at the time of the shooting.

Police said the man was transferred to a hospital and is in serious but stable condition. He is expected to survive.
