HOUSTON - Several suspects are facing charges after a carjacking, shooting, and chase in northwest Harris County.

It started around 7 p.m. Tuesday, when armed men carjacked a red SUV from someone in The Heights.

A few hours later, investigators said the crooks drove to a Shell station on West Little York Road and Fairbanks North Houston.

Deputies said four men then tried carjacking a man's truck.

The victim tried to fight back, but one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the face.

"These four suspects attempted to take a [man] out of his vehicle," said Thomas Gilliland with the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "He didn't comply with their demands and was shot in the jaw."

Things continued to escalate after the suspects took off.

Harris County deputies in the area spotted the stolen SUV going well over 90 miles per hour and started chasing the suspects.

A short while later, the driver of the stolen SUV crashed at Farm to Market Road 529 and Fairview Drive when he couldn't avoid an 18-wheeler at that intersection, investigators said.

Paramedics airlifted two of the thieves to the hospital for treatment. Another was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

A fourth suspect was handcuffed and hauled to jail.

Investigators said the suspects face a slew of charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony evading arrest, and aggravated robbery.

As for the victim, the sheriff's office said he was transported in critical but stable condition.

His identity was not immediately released.
