Man shoots home invader smashing in windows

Shooter not facing charges

HOUSTON - A homeowner shot a man trying to break into his house in the Third Ward, according to Houston police.

The homeowner said he woke up around 11 p.m. Saturday when he heard a window smash in his home on Dennis and Sampson.

Investigators said the homeowner shot the suspect as he was breaking in through the front door window. The robber was shot in the abdomen.

Officials said the injured man then tried to lunge at the homeowner. That's when the man fired a second time, hitting the suspect in the hand.

Police said the accused robber was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Investigators said the homeowner will not face any charges.
