Man robs, sexually assaults woman at bus stop

HOUSTON – Deputies are searching for a man who attacked a woman at a bus stop, and then robbed and sexually assaulted her.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the woman was waiting at a bus stop near the 14000 block of Ella Boulevard on Sept. 19 at 6 a.m. when she was approached by a man.

She told investigators that the suspect drew a gun and took her purse before he demanded the PIN numbers to her debit cards. She said the suspect then led her to a nearby bayou where he demanded she take off her clothes, and he sexually assaulted her.

This case is especially alarming because in this case, the woman tried to cooperate," said Katherine Cabaniss with Crime Stoppers.

The victim told investigators that she tried to take the attacker's gun during the sex assault, which prompted a brief struggle that led her escape.

Deputies said surveillance cameras captured the suspect using the victim's stolen credit card at a convenience store a short time later.

"This is a predator who did not hesitate to victimize this woman in a relatively public area when daylight was very, very near," Cabaniss said.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
