Man robbed, shot in north Houston expected to live

HOUSTON - A man is expected to recover after he was shot and robbed of his cell phone.

It happened around 11:20 p.m. in the 2400 block of William Tell Street in north Houston.

Witnesses told officials that someone in car held the victim at gunpoint, took his cellphone and then shot him. There is no suspect description or vehicle description, Michael Koteras with the Harris County Sheriff's Office said. 

The victim was found in the roadway and had been shot one time in the stomach area.

He was taken to the hospital and is in serious condition, but is expected to survive. 

Police are still searching for the suspect and there is no official vehicle description, though witnesses described it as a purple Kia.

"It's scary to know that somebody got shot really close to my house," Diego Julian, a nearby resident said.
