HOUSTON - Police at the University of Houston are investigating after a visitor on campus was robbed at gunpoint Friday evening.
The man told police he was walking in the 4000 block of Elgin when three young men came up to him and asked to use his cell phone.
One of them then showed a gun and demanded the victim's cell phone and wallet.
The suspects were last seen running north toward Rosalee.
News of the alert came just days after Bim Howells said she had a scare of her own as she was leaving campus.
"I was in the car, getting ready to leave at this time, and I had my phone and someone knocked on my door. I just pressed on the gas and got out," said Howells.
Howells now carries pepper spray and makes sure to park in areas that are brightly lit.
