Man met with gunfire after hearing knock at his door

HOUSTON – A man is recovering after he was shot at his home in southwest Houston.

According to police, the incident happened around 2 a.m. Thursday at an apartment complex near Bissonnet Street and Bonhomme Road.

The victim was in his apartment when someone knocked on his door, and when he opened it, he was met with gunfire, police said.

Authorities said the man ran back inside his apartment and called 911. 

When they arrived, officials found the man suffering from a gunshot wound and his girlfriend, who was also in the unit at the time of the incident, police said. 

According to police, the victim said there were a least two gunmen who are still at large.

He was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. His girlfriend was not hurt.
