HOUSTON - Police searched for a man believed to have drowned in a northeast Houston bayou on Tuesday.
A Houston Fire Department captain said a body was recovered after a dive team conducted an intensive search.
Houston police said they received a call about 1:50 p.m. that a 29-year-old man went under the water in Greens Bayou in the area of Westmont near Maple Way and had not resurfaced.
According to a relative, the man was sitting with friends, stood up, raised his hands and either walked or fell into the water.
"You can't see nothing under the water," said Marisol Gonzalez, who lives in the area. "My mother tells me not to go by it. It's dangerous -- very dangerous."
