Man dies 6 months after being shot in Houston's Third Ward

HOUSTON – A man who was wounded in a shooting in the Third Ward earlier this year died more than six months later, according to police.

The shooting was reported at 1:10 p.m. Jan. 9, near the intersection of St. Emanuel and Francis streets.

Houston police said officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area and found Sheldon Jackson, 47, lying in the street and suffering from a gunshot wound.

Jackson was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on July 15, police said.

Police said they do not have any information about the gunman.
