Man arrested after early morning chase

HOUSTON - A man is in custody after police said he led them on a chase Wednesday morning in southwest Houston.

Officers said they tried to pull over a white Toyota SUV around 3:45 a.m. after the driver ran a stop sign at Beverly Hill and Fountain View.

The SUV took off and led officers on a short chase.

Officials said the chase ended when officers were finally able to box in the SUV on El Camino Del Rey and Chimney Rock.

Investigators said the driver jumped out and ran, but was caught quickly by pursuing officers.

Officers said they found crack cocaine on the suspect.

The SUV turned out to be a rental.

The man now faces felony evading and possession of a narcotic charges.
