Man airlifted from cruise ship

NEW ORLEANS - The U.S. Coast Guard was called in to rescue a man off a cruise ship in the Gulf of Mexico.

Coast Guard officials said the 86-year-old man was on board the Carnival Elation when he began suffering from what they said may have been cardiac arrest.

The passenger was hoisted from the cruise ship by helicopter and flown to LSU Medical Center.

The cruise ship was 60 miles south of Southwest Pass in the Gulf of Mexico when Coast Guard officials rescued the man from the ship.

The passenger's name and condition was not immediately released.
