PASADENA, Texas - The search for a man accused of sexually assaulting a child ended after a 20-minute police chase Thursday afternoon.

Israel Alcaraz, 28, was finally stopped on Highway 225 at Goodyear Drive in Pasadena.

Police said as they got ready to arrest him, Alcaraz saw them and took off. Officers were warned that Alcaraz was armed and could be dangerous.

Pasadena police said the case started on July 9 when a child claimed Alcaraz had sexually assaulted them. Alcaraz was taken to jail then, charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography.

Pasadena police said it was too early to know if there could be other victims.

No one was at Alcarez's family home in south Houston Thursday night for comment.

Court records show Alcaraz was accused of burglary with the intent to sexually assault his ex-girlfriend in 2009. The grand jury did not return charges.

In 2009, he was accused of assault of a public servant for which he got deferred adjudication and recently completed probation.

Police confirmed Alcaraz served in the U.S. Marines.

Alcaraz's bonds total $40,000.
