Man accused of raping woman, 78

Wesley Bernard Gordon

HOUSTON - A suspect has been named in connection with the rape of an elderly woman.

Law enforcement officers are searching for Wesley Bernard Gordon, who was charged with aggravated sexual assault of an elderly.

The victim, 78, was attacked at her apartment on North Braeswood in southwest Houston on Aug. 8, 2003.  She had just returned home from a neighborhood store when she was grabbed from behind and dragged to her bedroom.  The suspect beat her, bound her hands with a cord and sexually assaulted her as she prayed for help.  After the attack, the suspect stole the victim's cash and purse.

In September of this year, investigators say Gordon was identified through DNA from evidence recovered at the time of the attack.  A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Anyone with information about Gordon's whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston at (713) 222-TIPS (8477).

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for any information that leads to the arrest.
