HOUSTON - A Houston man was arrested after police say he gave his child drugs to hide during a traffic stop.

Court records show that Terrance Cooper was pulled over by an officer on Tuesday. Cooper allegedly put a bag of crystal meth and marijuana in his 8-year-old son's pocket so the officer would not see it.

According to the spokesperson with the DA's office, Cooper's son told the officer the drugs were "candy." Officers say they eventually found the drugs in the child's pocket.

Cooper has a long criminal record dating back to 2006. He has been arrested for theft, possession of marijuana, evading arrest and assault.

Cooper is charged with endangering a child. He is being held on $20,000 bond.
