Police said stolen items worth $1,535

The couple told police they noticed a black pickup truck parked near their home and saw a man with a woman and a little girl.

The couple watched as he went in and out of a few homes and thought it was suspicious someone was working on Christmas Day, investigators said.

The witnesses told police the woman stayed inside the pickup, but the little girl went into some of the homes with the man.

The couple told police the man went into a home on Willow Park Terrace Lane near West Road and left with a rectangular box, investigators said.

Police said that as the man placed the box into the bed of his truck with other boxes and drove away, the couple wrote down the truck's license plate, took pictures with their cellphones and sent them to police.

On Dec. 28, a worker reported to police he discovered building materials missing from the home on Willow Park Terrace Lane and at another home.

Investigators said the worker noticed iron stair spirals were missing from the house the witnesses had seen the thief enter. The worker told police he knew what the thief had stolen when the witnesses described the box he took from the house. The box contained iron spindles and stairs accessories that are worth $1,535.

A warrant was issued for Luis Eduardo Rocha-Castro's arrest after investigators found that the description of the man given by the couple matched the description of the registered owner of the truck.

The worker said he does not know Rocha-Castro, and who he said is not an employee or contractor and does not have permission to be inside any of the homes.
