Man accused of breaking into home, groping woman

Steven Delacruz charged with burglary of habitation

HOUSTON - A man has been accused of breaking into a northwest Houston townhome and trying to sexually assault a woman.

Steven Delacruz, 25, has been charged with burglary of a habitation.

Houston police said Delacruz's target was a former high school friend.

Investigators said Delacruz removed the rear patio door of a home in the 10200 block of Hammerly about 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 9

Delacruz stripped down to his briefs and then jumped into bed with the woman, police said. He began groping her and yelling for him to get out, detectives said.

The woman's mother was also in the home, heard the commotion and ran to help her daughter. The mother told Delacruz to leave, which he eventually did, investigators said.

Delacruz was arrested at his home on Campbell Road on Thursday.

Neighbors said Delacruz lives with a woman and child.

Delacruz's father told KPRC Local 2 that his son has two children. He also claimed that the alleged victim let her son into the home.
