HOUSTON - A makeshift car show ended with a deadly stabbing in north Houston.

Houston police said a large group of people were gathered together for the makeshift car show in a large parking lot off Airline Drive. Moments later, a fight broke out and police said a man started slashing the tires of some of the vehicles.

The man was chased down the street around 12:45 a.m. Monday, investigators said.

Police said when they got to the end of West Canino Road, where it turns into the feeder of the North Freeway, they crashed into each other and the wall of the freeway because they were going too fast.

The people in the cars got out and started fighting again. Somebody pulled a knife and stabbed two men, detectives said.

One man was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition, but later died. His name was not released.

The other man was hospitalized in stable condition.

Police have not released any information about the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
