Lockdown lifted in Dayton

Headline Goes Here

DAYTON, Texas - A search for two men who fled on foot after a car chase with police that prompted a school lockdown has been called off.

Police ordered four schools to be put on lockdown shortly after noon Friday while K9 units and police searched the area of FM 1049 and State Highway 146 South.

The suspects remain at large. Scent-tracking dogs were used, but eventually lost track of the suspects leading police to believe the men were picked up and transported out of the area, the Dayton News reported.

Parents in the Dayton area were notified by automated phone calls about the lockdowns at Nottingham Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Junior High School, Stephen F. Austin Elementary and Kimmie Brown Elementary.
