THE WOODLANDS, Texas – It's a Fourth of July a young man in the Woodlands will never forget.
Make-A-Wish made his dream of riding in a parade come true Friday.
Thousands gathered to celebrate the Fourth and cheer on Trevor. He is 18 years old and is battling brain cancer. When Make-A-Wish volunteers asked for the one wish in his heart, he told them he wanted to be in a parade because he wants to feel the support as people cheer him on.
"At 16 he was diagnosed with a grade 4 brain tumor, and they told me he had four months to live," Trevor's mother Dorris Pauley said.
He was in the hospital for 16 months. Now, Trevor beat the odds and is home and healing. "
:He wanted to be the center of a parade so he could tell everyone what the lord has done for him, that's his main goal," Pauley said.
There were floats, marching bands, horses and cheerleaders traveling down the parade route at Market Street in The Woodlands.
Sally Lane was at the parade today to honor Trevor.
"He is kind of of a symbol of what this country is all about," she said. "That we can all succeed and survive."
And what does Trevor think about riding in this yellow Ferrarri?
Just one word: "Awesome."
The South County 4th of July Committee made Trevor's wish come true.
