Man steals camper with homeowner inside in Liberty County

LIBERTY COUNTY, Texas – A Crosby man has been charged for stealing a camper trailer off a property in Liberty County with the homeowner inside.

Ted Wilson, 43, is charged with felony theft and evading arrest.  Wilson has not yet been arrested.

In July, James Brown, 75, woke up in the middle of the night to someone hooking up his camper trailer and pulling it out of his driveway while he was sleeping inside of it.  It happened at his home in the CR 2279 area of South Liberty County.

Brown called 911 for help.  He told the dispatcher which direction the pickup truck that was towing him and his trailer.  After a chase with deputies, the truck came to a stop.  Wilson, who investigators identified as the driver, jumped from the truck and fled into the woods.  A woman who was riding in the truck was detained.  She has been identified as Stephanie Nicole Palmer, 38.  She has not been charged at this time, but her case has been sent to a grand jury for review.

Anyone having knowledge of Wilson's whereabouts is asked to call the Liberty County Sheriff's Department at 936-336-4500.
