Deputies shoot, kill dog that mauled woman to death

The deputy who found the dog feared for his safety, and shot him

HOUSTON – The dog that mauled a 63-year-old woman to death was found and killed.

According to Capt. Defoor of the Liberty County Sheriff's Office, the stray dog was shot and killed around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday by a deputy.

Deputies were notified by a resident that the dog was in their backyard, but when they arrived, the dog ran off.

Another deputy saw the dog, and when the dog came in his direction, he shot the dog, fearing for his safety.

The dog, who killed Linda Oliver on Monday, died at the scene.
