Vehicle auction this weekend in Pasadena

PASADENA, Texas – If you're looking to get a good deal on a car, this weekend event could be the place.

On Saturday, the city of Pasadena will be auctioning off its surplus city vehicles, as well as abandoned and confiscated cars.

Cars, trucks and SUVs will all go home with the highest bidders. There are even some Toyota Prius cars this year.

The rain didn't keep Jerry Cheatam from Friday's preview for the Pasadena City Auction.

"I'm looking for a vehicle for my son," said Cheatam.

He's looking for something reliable and reasonably priced.

"It's to replace a car that he wrecked," he said.

And for others who are in the market for boats and tractors, they've got a few of those too.

"We sell the cars that we've gotten through arrests and DWI arrests, and also we have some city vehicles we sell after their reached their useful life with the police department," said Vance Mitchell, with the Pasadena Police Department.

You can pay with cash, checks or credit cards. There are no warranties and the items are sold "as is."

"As far as the prices, it varies on how many people are here and the weather," Mitchell said.

Bidding starts Saturday at 9 a.m. Viewing starts at 7 a.m. at the maintenance services facility at 3124 Red Bluff Road.
