Robbery suspect fatally shot after chase

BAMMEL FOREST, Texas – A robbery suspect was shot and killed after an armed robbery escalated into a chase and deputy-involved shooting in northwest Harris County.

Harris County sheriff's deputies said around 9:45 p.m. Saturday, four men went into the Family Dollar store on Kuykendahl Road near Ella Boulevard and held the clerk up at gunpoint.

Investigators said the crooks took an undisclosed amount of money and drove off.

A deputy pulled up as they were leaving and chased them north to a dead-end at Waycreek Road and Bycreek Drive. Deputies said the four men jumped out of their truck and tried to run away. Deputies caught three of them, but the fourth refused to stop.

Deputies said the man then turned to aim his gun at a deputy. Fearing for his life, the deputy shot the man, who died at the scene.

No one else was injured, and the other three men were taken into custody.

No names have been released.
