Police make two arrests in violent carjacking

Undercover officers spotted the stolen car and called for backup

HOUSTON – Houston police arrested two robbery suspects in front of the Reserve at Westwood Apartment complex off Bissonnet after 3am Wednesday.

"They [officers] stopped the vehicle here on Bissonnet near Beltway 8. The driver of the car jumped out and ran on foot, and after a few minutes we took him into custody," says Lt. Larry Crowson.

There was a second suspect arrested who stayed in the car handcuffed.

Officers had been searching for the silver sports car overnight after they say a victim was carjacked at gun point late Tuesday night off Gessner.

Investigators say undercover officers spotted the stolen car and called for back up.

A gun was found in the car and collected for evidence.

Sammy Yemane, 18, is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. The second suspect is a 16-year-old male.
