HOUSTON - Harris County deputies said a bicyclist caused an accident that took his life Tuesday night.

The man was crossing the road at Fairbanks North Houston and Taub Road when he was hit. Deputies said he pulled out in front of an oncoming SUV.

The SUV hit the man on the bike, sending him flying into a construction zone. He crashed through a fence and landed in a sandpit.

The cyclist was rushed to CyFair Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Deputies said the cyclist was at fault for the accident.

The driver of SUV stopped to help the man and did not appear to be under the influence, so he will not face charges.
