HOUSTON - A man was killed and the gunman is on the run after a fight at a northwest Harris County home, deputies said.

Neighbors heard gunshots and called deputies to a home on Crenchrus Court and Greenyard Drive around 9:30 p.m Thursday.

When they arrived, deputies found a man shot several times in the street.

He was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital, but he later died.

According to deputies, the man was involved in some sort of disturbance at the home. Several shots were fired inside the home and he was wounded.

Officials said the victim staggered out of the home and stumbled onto the street where he collapsed.

"Deputies followed the blood trail back up to the subdivision there which led them to a duplex.  There was blood inside and outside the duplex," said Sgt. Ben Bell with the Harris County Homicide Unit. "The deputies entered the house to see if there were any additional victims and located what is probably a pound and a half to two pounds of marijuana inside the house."

Investigators also found weapons, but they did not find the shooter or any witnesses.

Deputies called in K-9 Units and a helicopter, but could not locate the shooter.

The victim's name has not been released.
