Man critically injured after wrapping car around tree

Police say alcohol played a factor in the crash

OLDE OAKS, Texas – A man was critically injured after a major car crash in northwest Harris County.

Around 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, deputies said a driver was traveling north on Walters Road at a high rate of speed.  He lost control in the curve that becomes Aspen Bend Drive.

According to reports, the car plowed through a brick mailbox and slammed into a tree, ending up wrapped around it.

The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle, and emergency crews had to pry him out of the car. Officials transported him to the hospital in critical condition.

Deputies said alcohol definitely played a factor in the crash, as they found broken beer bottles at the scene and inside the car.
