HOUSTON - Firefighters continued to monitor a chemical warehouse on the Ship Channel for hotspots after a two-day fire and expect a walk-thru Tuesday afternoon.

The fire department was called to the scene last Saturday around noon for the blaze on Industrial Road and Third in east Houston.  Witnesses saw flames coming out of the Texas Distribution, Inc warehouse.

The fire was originally called a two-alarm fire but officials said it soon became a five-alarm fire.

Cloverleaf firefighters working with the warehouse employees used heavy equipment to help bring the fire under control.  Portions of the warehouse did collapse, but part of the structure is still intact.

Investigators said there materials burned were dry and not toxic.  They do not suspect foul play.  There were no injuries.
