HPD: Suspects sought after man killed for iPhone

HOUSTON – Authorities are searching for the suspect(s) responsible for killing a man during a robbery in which the victim's iPhone was stolen.

In the early morning hours of October 1, Houston police officers were dispatched to the intersection of Randolph and Constellation Ln. in the Skyscraper Shadow Subdivision in response to reports of a shooting.  When officers arrived they say they found Rafael Ortiz Farias' body lying in the middle of the 9600 block of Randolph.

Farias, 43, was last seen leaving the neighborhood ice house on the date in question at approximately 1am.  Investigators believe that the victim was killed during the course of a robbery in which his iPhone was stolen.

Following a thorough investigation into the incident, no suspects have been identified.  Investigators now hope that an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Houston will lead to the identification, charging and arrest of the suspect(s) responsible.
