Expectant father shot, killed at rap music party

Men were arguing in front of home when man was killed, deputies say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A young man who just found out he was going to be a father, was shot and killed outside of this home during the filming of a rap video. Police are now searching for his killer.

The people who knew 22-year-old Tyrell Young said he was a great friend with a good heart.

"Earlier that day, I had just found out that I was pregnant with his baby," said Tierra Davis, Young's girlfriend.

"He doesn't bother anyone, not a trouble maker, mild mannered, a very respectable young man," said Michael Fulaer, Young's uncle.

Harris County investigators said around 1:20 a.m. Sunday, a rap music video was being filmed during a party at a house on Grayling Lane when a fight broke out between two guys.

"When they arrived on scene, they found that there had been a party at the residence," said Sgt. Ben Beall, Harris County Sheriff's Office. "A fight disturbance broke out and moved into the street. There was one shot fired. When deputies arrived, they found a shell casing in the roadway and a small amount of blood."

Young had been shot once in the chest and was lying on the ground.

"He was standing right here, the guy just came out from the crowd and shot him and took off," said Fulaer.

Young was rushed to the hospital by his friends where he was pronounced dead. Now, his family and friends are left with unanswered questions.

"There is somebody out there that knows something, and you don't want to speak up, but we are going to get whoever did this to him," said Davis.

Police still aren't sure what lead to that argument, and they said they are still looking for his killer. Anyone with information in the shooting death of Young is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
