Deputies: Suspect's vehicle likely has major front-end damage #hitandrun

HOUSTON – A man was in serious condition Tuesday after a hit-and-run crash that forced his vehicle into a northwest Harris County ditch, Precinct 5 deputy constables said.

The victim was stopped at a red light on North Eldridge Parkway and Hampton Falls Drive around 10 p.m. Monday when the driver of a black car plowed into the back of the first vehicle, officials said. The stopped car was pushed into a ditch and the driver was trapped.

When emergency crews arrived, they had to cut into the car to free the victim. He was taken to the hospital in serous but stable condition. The man is expected to survive.

Despite heavy front-end damage, the driver of the black car fled the scene.

Deputies said they are talking to neighbors in the area to see if anyone saw anything that can help them identify the hit-and-run driver.

They were also looking for debris from the suspect's vehicle that could help track down the driver.
