HOUSTON – A driver was seriously injured after crashing his car into a northeast Harris County bayou.
Around 2:45 a.m., deputies said a man driving south on Lillja Road failed to see a curve in the road just north of Hollyvale and crashed into a nearby bayou.
The man was not wearing a seat belt, and the impact forced him through the windshield, investigators said. Emergency crews took him to a hospital and deputies said he is expected to survive.
His female passenger, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered only minor injuries.
The Harris County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
The names of the driver and passenger have not been released.
