Armed thieves try robbing store in Aldine

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Employees at a north Harris County convenience store are on high alert after two men with guns tried to rob the owners.

It happened on Christmas Eve and the incident was captured on the store's surveillance cameras.

The store owner and his wife, who asked Local 2 not to release their names or the name of their business, say two hooded men with guns stormed into their store at  about noon.

The couple was helping customers from behind the counter, surrounded with bullet-proof glass, when one of the gunmen reached in from a small opening, grabbed the store owner with one hand and shoved a gun at him with the other.

"He said don't move! And then put the gun on my chest," said the store owner.

He and his wife say they tried to hide under the counter for protection. The gunman fired a couple of shots but missed the couple.

A second gunman ordered customers inside the store to get on the floor.

But the terrifying attempted robbery came to an end when the store owner's wife pulled a gun on the robbers and they fled.

"My wife saved my life," said the store owner. "I just want to be good people and work for my family. I don't want anything to happen."

The robbers didn't get away with any money but the store owner says they have been targeted before, this same time last year when some crooks stole $10,000 from the store.

If you have any information about the robbery or recognize the men in the surveillance video, you are asked to contact HPD.
