6 arrested in school zone prostitution sting

HOUSTON – Authorities said one woman and five men were arrested during a prostitution sting in a east Harris County school zone.

Officials said the focus of Thursday's operation was on individuals who sold and solicited sex in a school zone near Cloverleaf Elementary School.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office says prostitution was happening in the line of sight of school children.

"I always see them around, I see them every day," said a young boy who lives in the area.

During the sting, undercover female deputies posed as prostitutes working the streets and male undercover deputies canvassed the area for women soliciting money in exchange for sex.

Annette Alivez has lived in the neighborhood for over 20 years and she said she sees the illegal activity every day.

"The guys pass by and stop right in front and pick them or drop them off," Alivez said.

Investigators said five men and one woman were arrested and charged with prostitution.
